Arsenal approaches Liverpool
Lost important points after Alexander Isak scored for Newcastle
Now it's very close at the top. Arsenal is closing in on Liverpool, after Manchester United was defeated with two corner goals.
Liverpool, leading the Premier League, lost crucial points after Alexander Isak scored for Newcastle in a match that ended 3–3.
At Emirates Stadium, Arsenal hosted Manchester United, and the first half saw no goals. In the second half, Arsenal demonstrated their strength in set pieces. After 51 minutes, Jurriën Timber headed in the leading goal for the home team, and in the 73rd minute, William Saliba extended the lead to 2–0 – also following a corner.
Manchester United failed to put pressure on Arsenal's defense and left the pitch with a 2–0 loss. It was the team's first defeat under the new coach Ruben Amorim, and the crisis-stricken team is now in eleventh place in the table.
For Arsenal, however, it was a successful evening. With three points, the team climbs to third place with 28 points, seven behind league-leading Liverpool.
