A dramatic match between Tottenham and Chelsea
Cucurella slipped twice!
A dramatic match unfolded in London on Sunday afternoon. Tottenham's Dominic Solanke scored 1-0. Just five minutes later, Cucurella slipped once again, which opened up for Dejan Kulusevski to place the ball at the left post and extend Tottenham's lead.
But then both luck for Cucurella and the course of the match for Chelsea turned. After changing his shoes, the full-back managed to provide an assist that led to 2-1. Jadon Sancho reduced the score with an impressive solo goal.
After the break, Chelsea took over the game, while Tottenham collapsed by conceding two penalties. Cole Palmer scored both penalties. Between these goals, Enzo Fernández scored a leading goal that further cemented Chelsea's dominance.
– I saw the goalkeeper preparing to dive, so I decided to chip, Palmer shared in the Viaplay broadcast.
Tottenham managed to reduce the score just before the end, but there wasn't enough time to recover the deficit.
– We knew it was going to be a tough match, so it's satisfying that we managed to win, Palmer said afterwards.
Tottenham's coach Ange Postecoglou commented on the match with disappointment:
– This is painful. We started really well, but after losing Romero we had to change a lot, which gave Chelsea the opportunity to take over. We had chances to score a third goal but didn't take them, and the two penalties were also weak efforts on our part.
With the victory, Chelsea climbs to second place in the Premier League table. They are now four points behind Liverpool, who still have one game in hand after this weekend's cancelled derby.
