Legend in heated exchange with supporter
And a tough start for the new manager at Manchester United..
Manchester United and Premier League newcomer Ipswich Town ended 1–1, yesterday Sunday.
After the final whistle, club icon and current TV pundit Roy Keane got into a heated dispute with a supporter.
– I'll meet you in the parking lot, Keane is said to have said.
Ruben Amorim, who recently left Sporting, and the Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, made his debut for Manchester United yesterday.
The team's first match under his leadership was an away game against Ipswich Town, and it started promisingly for the visitors.
Marcus Rashford put Manchester United 1–0 up in the second minute of the match, giving the team an early advantage. Manchester United, which had fired Erik ten Hag earlier this fall, seemed to have control of the match.
But Ipswich did not give up. Just before the halftime break, Omari Hutchinson equalized, and despite several chances from both teams, the score remained 1–1 until the final whistle.
After the match, tensions escalated off the pitch. During a break in the Sky Sports broadcast, Roy Keane, former United captain and now a TV pundit, got into a verbal exchange with an Ipswich supporter.
According to Daily Mail, the supporter shouted insults at Keane, which led to the 53-year-old Irishman reacting strongly. Security personnel had to intervene and took Keane away before he could return to his TV duties.
Roy Keane, who played 326 matches for Manchester United, is a well-known figure in English football. He was also the manager of Ipswich Town between 2009 and 2011, adding further drama to the incident.
