The European Championship stars who are googled the most and are the biggest on Instagram

Ronaldo dominates on Google, followed by several English superstars. Read our survey below.

The Euro tournament is in full swing, and football fans are enjoying thrilling matches on the way to the Euro final on July 14. With some of the world's best players on the field, the tournament has already offered unforgettable moments. Fans are following every step of their favorite players, both on and off the pitch, which is reflected in the high search volumes on Google and increased activity on social media. The most Googled of the Euro stars is Portugal's **Cristiano Ronaldo**, with over 40,000 Googlings each month. In second and third place on the leaderboard are the Englishmen **Jude Bellingham** (27,000) and **Harry Kane** (22,000). The fifth most Googled player is Spain's young star **Lamine Yamal**, the 16-year-old from FC Barcelona, according to a study by the marketplace Ticket2.com. At every championship, new stars present themselves to the broad, global audience, and there's no doubt that the most talked-about this time is Lamine Yamal. It's absolutely incredible what a high level he maintains, being just 16 years old, says Dina Junttila, Marketing Manager at Ticket2.com. In terms of size on Instagram, the Portuguese superstar is totally superior compared to the rest of the Euro players. Ronaldo has over 630 million followers, far behind comes **Kylian Mbappé** (118 mil.) and **Toni Kroos** (47 mil). Harry Kane, who is one of the most Googled, has a modest 17 million followers in comparison, placing him in 9th place among the Euro players. Three of the six players who are biggest on Instagram played the last season at Real Madrid. A club to which both number one Ronaldo and number two Mbappé have strong connections. Ronaldo had great successes at Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018, and about two weeks before the Euro kick-off, Mbappé was presented as a Real player. It seems logical that Kylian Mbappé will take over from Ronaldo as football's biggest billboard name. With the move from PSG to Real Madrid, he also gets the opportunity to be seen even more by a global billion audience. We'll see when it shows up in Google's data, and he has a way to go to reach Ronaldo's levels on Instagram, says Dina Junttila. | Place | Name | National Team | Searches on Google/month | Followers on Instagram | |-------|------|---------------|--------------------------|------------------------| | 1 | Cristiano Ronaldo | Portugal | 40,500 | 632,000,000 | | 2 | Jude Bellingham | England | 27,000 | 33,600,000 | | 3 | Harry Kane | England | 22,000 | 17,000,000 | | 4 | Kylian Mbappé | France | 22,000 | 118,000,000 | | 5 | Lamine Yamal | Spain | 12,100 | 7,700,000 | | 6 | Cole Palmer | England | 9,900 | 2,900,000 | | 7 | Declan Rice | England | 9,900 | 3,500,000 | | 8 | Kevin De Bruyne | Belgium | 9,900 | 26,400,000 | | 9 | Phil Foden | England | 9,900 | 11,900,000 | | 10 | Luka Modri | Croatia | 8,100 | 36,200,000 | | 11 | Robert Lewandowski | Poland | 8,100 | 35,500,000 | | 12 | Pepe | Portugal | 8,100 | 17,800,000 | | 13 | Toni Kroos | Germany | 8,100 | 47,900,000 | | 14 | Nacho Fernández | Spain | 6,600 | 14,000,000 | | 15 | Bruno Fernandes | Portugal | 5,400 | 8,900,000 | | 16 | Kyle Walker | England | 5,400 | 5,200,000 | | 17 | Rodri | Spain | 5,400 | 1,800,000 | | 18 | Trent Alexander-Arnold | England | 4,400 | 11,300,000 | | 19 | Bernardo Silva | Portugal | 4,400 | 4,800,000 | | 20 | Bukayo Saka | England | 4,400 | 6,200,000 | | 21 | Virgil van Dijk | Netherlands | 4,400 | 15,700,000 | | 22 | Kobbie Mainoo | England | 3,600 | 2,600,000 | | 23 | NGolo Kanté | France | 3,600 | 16,500,000 | | 24 | Olivier Giroud | France | 3,600 | 3,700,000 | | 25 | Xavi Simons | Netherlands | 3,600 | 5,900,000 | **About the study** The data comes from Google and covers the last twelve months, the period June 2023-May 2024.
