Raphaël Varane retires, aged 31

He won the Spanish league three times and the Champions League four times.

The French football player Raphaël Varane is ending his career at the age of 31. On Instagram, he writes:


"They say that all good things come to an end. I have faced many challenges throughout my career, almost everything was supposed to be impossible. Incredible feelings, special moments, and memories that will last a lifetime. Reflecting on these moments, it is with great pride and a sense of fulfillment that I announce my retirement from the sport we all love."


He won the Spanish league three times and the Champions League four times. Then he moved on to Manchester United and last season won the FA Cup with them. He was supposed to play in Serie A, Como for this season but instead chose to end his career.


In 2018, he won the World Cup with France. Varane played from the start when Croatia was defeated in the World Cup final in Moscow. "I regret nothing. I wouldn't change anything. I have won more than I could ever have dreamed of," he writes.
